Franklin Perritt's focus of practice is civil trial practice with emphasis on products liability, environmental torts, automobile and uninsured motorist litigation, insurance coverage, industry-wide tort litigation, and corporate and commercial litigation.
Mr. Perritt attended the University of Florida where he received his B.S.B.A. in 1956, his L.L.B. in 1962. Mr. Perritt was a member of Florida Blue Key, Hall of Fame, President of the Intrafraternity Council and of Phi Gamma Delta Social Fraternity.
Mr. Perritt served in the U.S. Army Armor from 1957 to 1959. He retired from the Florida Army National Guard in 1989 as Colonel. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Legion of Honor, the Florida Distinguished Service Award and the Florida Cross.
Mr. Perritt has practiced law with Marks Gray since 1962. He is a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association; The Florida Bar; American Bar Foundation, Fellow; Atlanta Claims Association; and International Association of Defense Counsel. He was on the Executive Council for the Association of Insurance Attorneys from 1983 to 1990 and the President in 1988 and 1989. Mr. Perritt is a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association where he served on the Executive Council from 1982 to 1988 and as President in 1987 and 1988. He was President of the Jacksonville Association of Defense Counsel in 1969. He is also a member of the American Law Firm Association where he was Director from 1982 to 1988 and on the Executive Council from 1985 to 1988. He was the Director of the Defense Research Institute in 1987 and 1988. He served on the Board of Directors for the Lawyers for Civil Justice in 1987 and 1988, and from 1991 to 1993. Mr. Perritt is a Diplomate of the American Board of Trial Advocates, Jacksonville Chapter President in 1993 and on the National Board of Directors from 1995 to 2000. He served as Chairman of Civil Litigation, Florida 4th Judicial Circuit Committee on Professionalism 1998-2000.
Mr. Perritt has taken an active role in our community as a member of the Rotary Club of Jacksonville; the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce; Epping Forest Yacht Club; the Jacksonville River Club; and Methodist Medical Center Board of Directors.
Mr. Perritt's honors include Trial Lawyers of the year award 1997, the Jacksonville Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and Florida Trial Lawyer of the year 1998, Florida Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Mr. Perritt is admitted to practice in all Florida Courts; the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Appeal, 5th and 11th Circuits; and the U.S. District Courts, Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.
